County Legislator – Harry Lennon
Harry Lennon’s service in the Greene County Legislature is based on trust, integrity, accountability and leadership. He believes in tight fiscal plans, easing tax burdens on residents, and increasing accountability and transparency in government.
Lennon is an active member of his community, a devoted husband and father, and a dedicated employee for the State of New York in Albany. A 1978 graduate of Cairo-Durham High School, Lennon received a B.S. in Criminal Justice from the University of Scranton in Pennsylvania in 1983.
Lennon’s background is one of public service. As a police officer with the U. S. Supreme Court in Washington, D.C., Lennon was responsible for the protection and security of court employees, Supreme Court Justices and their families. In 1989, he began working as a Confidential Investigator for the New York State Ethics Commission, investigating alleged violations of the Public Officers Law by New York State employees. Since March, 2007, Lennon has been the Senior Investigator for the New York State Thruway Authority.
Since 1978, Lennon has been a member of the Cairo Hose Company. He is a member of the Catskill Elks Lodge #1341 and has been involved in other local organizations, including coaching for the Cairo Little League and Babe Ruth League.
In his first three years as a Greene County legislator, Lennon was a member of six committees:
* Public Safety
* Government Operations
* Human Resources
Lennon also served on the probation director search committee and on the county administrator search committee.
